I’m thrilled to have a story of mine included in the upcoming charity anthology Off the Record 2: At the Movies. All of the stories in this collection (which will benefit the National Literacy Trust in the U.K. and the Children’s Literacy Initiative in the U.S.) will co-opt a movie title, but may or may not have any connection whatsoever to the movie itself.
In addition to a great selection of authors who were invited to participate, editors Luca Veste and Paul D. Brazill kindly opened this anthology to submissions based on some pre-selected movie titles. Even better, they seem to have liked my take on “American Beauty” and decided to include it. I couldn’t be happier! (It was very difficult to resist using a lot more than one exclamation point there…)
A few of the many other movie titles included in Off the Record 2: At the Movies are “Bringing Up Baby” (loved that film), “Jaws” and “Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus.” I can’t wait to see what the writers did with those.
The first anthology in this series, Off the Record, benefits the same two charities. It’s available on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk and is packed with great stories based on song titles, such as “I Wanna Be Sedated,” “Light My Fire” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” I highly recommend it.
