Noir at the Bar – NYC on Sunday, Dec. 8!

Shade Bar in New York City is one of the best-known locations for great Noir at the Bar events, and I’m thrilled to be part of the lineup this Sunday, Dec. 8.

Hosts Jen Conley (Seven Ways to Get Rid of Harry) and Scott Adlerberg (Jack Waters) have assembled an incredible group of readers:

• Jay Butkowski (co-editor of Rock and a Hard Place Magazine)
• Alison Gaylin (If I Die Tonight)
• Preston Lang (Sunk Costs)
• Roger Nokes (co-editor of Rock and a Hard Place Magazine)
• SJ Rozan (Paper Son)
• Lauren Wilkinson (American Spy)

That lineup includes two Edgar Award winners (Gaylin and Rozan), an author whose debut novel is on the short list for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize and was included on Barack Obama’s 2019 Recommended Reading List (Wilkinson), an author with four books all rated 4.5 stars or better on Amazon (Lang), two editors at a hot new crime fiction magazine (Butkowski and Nokes)… and me.

N@B in Queens was Amazing

Alex Segura and Scott Adlerberg know how to throw a party.

Noir at the Bar in Queens was amazing. I’m still pinching myself to make sure that’s really me in this photo of outstanding authors:

Left to right, that’s Alex Segura, the nearly hidden William Boyle, Angel Luis Colón, Jill Block, Lawrence Block, Sarah Weinman, Scott Adlerberg, me (nearly fading into the background), Jen Conley, Thomas Pluck, and Rob Hart. Lyndsay Faye is seated in front of the gang, and I think Jason Starr had to leave before the photo was taken.

Everyone was on their game — so many great stories were told! And the venue (The Beast Next Door) was perfect. If you get a chance to attend a Noir at the Bar event in your area, don’t miss it.

Noir at the Bar in Queens: June 26

Later this month (Sunday, June 26, to be exact), I’ll be reading at NOIR AT THE BAR in Queens, New York.

N@B Returns to Philly on March 19

Philadelphia’s Society Hill Playhouse, founded in 1959 by Jay and Deen Kogan, has been the site of countless memorable performances (including several editions of the great NoirCon conference).

Society Hill Playhouse is closing its doors for good soon, but not before a group of 16 crime writers take to the stage for what promises to be an epic NOIR AT THE BAR event.

NOIR AT THE BAR at Society Hill Playhouse will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016. The show starts at 6:45 p.m. SHP is located at 507 S. 8th St. in Philly. (Click on the poster for all the details.)

Philadelphia is the original home of N@B, so it’s always a special time when it returns to the City of Brotherly Love.

Noir at the Bar: Saturday Night!

This Saturday night — that’s August 29! — I’ll be in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to read from a story I’m working on. The working title is “Muldoon,” and it’s really fun to read live.

The occasion is NOIR AT THE BAR, hosted by the inimitable Jen Conley. We’ll be at Tumulty’s Pub, 361 George St., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

There’s no cover charge, so come on out and listen to me read — but, even better, listen to hard-hitting stories by the likes of Scott Adlerberg, Ed Aymar, Angel Colón, Bruce Harris, Jeff Markowitz, Thomas Pluck, Chuck Regan, Peter Rozovsky, and Albert Tucher!
